Urban areas

Automatic counters allowed Victoria’s downtown managers to compare visitation from one year to the next. The data from the Eco-Counters made it possible to develop long-term trends, to provide comparisons of attendance before and after planning projects, and to predict future demand.

Plan for future investments

Count data collected by the City of Victoria, BC enables:

- Establishing before and after foot traffic counts to justify new investments in infrastructure and pilot projects such as shopping streets.

- Understanding usage patterns of pedestrians as a function of time, infrastructure type, weather, and season.

- Measuring pedestrian traffic on sidewalks and at intersections.
